Region 10, the host of the 11th National Empowerment Conference (NEC), busily planned the biannual event. They assembled a conference planning committee and recruited individuals from across the country with a shared interest in advancing the Filipino American community. The conference, which was held on August 7-10, 2014 in San Diego, California, focused on achieving the following outcomes:
- Recognize strides already made by the youth and address them as key peer partners in community organizing
- Provide useful and practical programming for attendees through “track” workshops in organizational advancement, program highlights, professional development, and civic engagement education
- Create a sustainable momentum in establishing a “pipeline” of leadership from youth, to professional, to community advocate through personal and skill development
